Language education

If your child recently arrived in Denmark and do not speak Danish, Rødovre Municipality offers a specially arranged classes in Danish in our Reception Classes. Children and young people from different backgrounds and languages gather here to learn Danish together.

If your child needs to start school for the first time (age 5-6) your child will be enrolled in one of our six primary Schools based on the politically decided distribution criteria. Here there will be a specially arranged course to strengthen the child’s language skills in Danish beside the regular Danish classes.

If your child is between the age of 13 and 16 years old (and have not yet finished basic school from their home country), your child needs to go to reception class at Islev School. You can contact the coordinator of the Reception Class on phone number 30 76 82 09.

If your child is between the age of 7 and 12 years old, you can find out who to contact by entering your address on the map-link below and get the contact information for the Reception Class you need to contact.

Bilingual students from the following countries are offered mother-tongue classes:

EU countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, England, Finland, Greece, Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Austria

EEA countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway

The offer also applies to students from the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

The classes is organized in a collaboration between The Vestegn municipalities and the Municiplaity of Copenhagen. Inquiries regarding mother-tongue classes must be made to secure mail on the top of the page.

Hvis dit barn for nyligt er kommet til Danmark og ikke taler dansk, kan Rødovre Kommune tilbyde særlig tilrettelagt undervisning i dansk i vores modtagerklasser. Her samles børn og unge med forskellige baggrunde og sprog.

Hvis dit barn skal starte i børnehaveklasse, vil det blive indskrevet på en af de seks folkeskoler ud fra de politisk besluttede fordelingskriterier. Her vil der være et særlig tilrettelagt undervisningsforløb for dit barn, som kan styrke barnets sprogkompetencer i dansk.

Hvis dit barn er mellem 13 og 16 år skal det gå i modtagelsesklasse på Islev skole. Du kan kontakte modtagelseskoordinator på 30 76 82 09.
